How to build a cat tower

Check your size first

Free, instant and no account. The engine checks it the way a structural engineer would, and says so plainly when it won't hold up.

What goes wrong on a cat tower

Tipping

A tall tower on a small base goes over when a cat jumps off the top. The check widens the base until it stands, and it tells you when it did.

Post joints

Each platform hangs on its posts. The check looks at whether the joints carry a landing cat.

The build, start to finish

1. Cut the base, posts and platforms from the cut list.
2. Fix the posts to the base, square and plumb.
3. Add the platforms from the bottom up.
4. Wrap the posts in sisal if you want a scratching post, then let the cat inspect it.

The full plan has the exact cut list, a shopping list, a 3D view you can stand in your room, and step-by-step assembly for your sizes.
